İslet Society Meeting 2016

İslet Society Meeting 2016

Dear Colleagues

It is our pleasure to invite you to the 8th Islet Society Meeting to be held in Istanbul/TURKEY in July 2016. Istanbul is a unique city lying on both continents of Europe and Asia, building a bridge between its oriental and occidental identities. No other city is full of such striking and outstanding contrasts as Istanbul has; a city heading towards modernity with such a rich history. Istanbul is a captivating blend of Eastern and Western cultures represented in the nature of districts and lifestyle of people inhabiting them.

This meeting will be covering topics such as islet cell survival, islet cell plasticity and maintenance, islet programming, islet transplantation and clinical trials, islet cell development and differentiation, islet cell regeneration, genome-wide aspects of islet cell function and development, stress and failure of the pancreatic islet, reprogramming, differentiation of stem cells into β cells in vitro and in vivo, the molecular mechanism of type 1 diabetes.

We offer you to take this opportunity and benefit from an exciting meeting, an attractive social program and a chance to visit to the unique and fascinating sites in Istanbul.

With My Warmest Regards

Erdal Karaöz (Ph.D)

Conference Chair

Liv Hospital, Center for Regenerative Medicine and Stem Cell Research & Manufacturing

NOTE FROM THE PRESIDENT

I congratulate Erdal Karaoz for hosting the 2016 Islet Society Meeting in Istanbul. I believe he will make this meeting as successful as the previous ones.

I call upon everybody, including those who are engaged in research distant from the field of islet research to participate in this meeting. If we can bring some of the new knowledge from those distant fields, and use them to solve some the most important problems in islet research, then we shall increase the chances of breakthroughs.

Make best use of your talent, during your lifetime, for the benefit of millions of those who are suffering from one or other forms of islet failure. To do this, you may find it useful to exchange ideas, and establish meaningful collaborations and partnerships. Islet society meetings provide an opportunity for such interactions.

I wish the meeting a great success.

Md. Shahidul Islam
